The Team

Robin has been a women’s rights advocate her whole life. Growing up in a family of strong women and supportive men, she was encouraged to believe in the incredible potential of girls. When she realized that not everyone shared the same ideals, she figured she might as well do something about it! From advocating for gender-based violence with Bold Voice Ambassadors to playing on two national lacrosse teams while still in school, she has dabbled in a lot. Passionate about the organization she founded with her sister, GirlPower Uganda, it felt right to dedicate her gap year to growing the initiative. She has had meaningful experiences, like interning with AFRIpads, the largest reusable pad company in Africa, to learn how best to alleviate menstrual poverty. Having spent her entire life in Uganda and completed all her schooling there, she is now headed to Harvard as part of the class of 2029 to pursue her undergraduate studies. If asked where home is, the answer is clear: Uganda will always be her home.

Amanda’s drive for advocacy and empowerment was evident from the very young. Recognizing the importance of gender equality, she became a passionate voice for change. A skilled debater, Amanda placed 7th in the Global Scholars semi-final in Qatar and advanced to the world finals at Yale in the USA, where she was among the top 30 writers and debater. She has also been recognized as the best delegate in several Model United Nations (MUN) competitions across the region. She strongly believes in the transformative power of education and will gladly debate anyone who disagrees.

Currently, Amanda is pursuing the IB diploma at the International School of Uganda. In addition to her academic endeavors, she holds a black belt in Taekwondo and represents her school in various sports.
